The "Do not do" list!

If you are like me, you are a list maker. We have “to do” lists, “don’t forget” lists and maybe even a “bucket list.” What would we do without them!

They give us a sense of control – because whatever it is we need to do . . . it is now on the list. With a list to work with, we can move forward with clarity. Plus, there are few things that feel as good as “checking things” off the list. Done!

But in this no slack world we live in, it is so easy to get off course – to become distracted by the whirr of our pace and the urgency of our daily demands. Here’s a new list that has worked for some people. It is the Not To Do list. It is a reminder of what we will say “no” to.

  • I will not text while driving.

  • I will not put my phone on the dinner table.

  • I will not make commitments I know I can’t keep.

  • I will not leave dirty dishes in the sink.

  • I will not feign interest on Facebook.

  • I will not let my co-worker continuously interrupt me.

  • I will not let my boss make me feel bad.

Keep your list simple – just two or three things that will bring clarity and focus to your crazy day!
